Replacement bridge purchased
MEXICO - If all goes well, a replacement bridge on Coburn Avenue over Webb River could be installed by the end of October.
Petrie is Legion's Educator of Year
ELIOT - Lee Petrie, formerly of Mexico, is the recipient of the American Legion, Department of Maine's 2008 Educator of the Year award. Lee teaches history at Marshwood Middle School in Eliot, and coaches Class A girls' basketball at Marshwood High School.
Mexico property rising 20 percent
MEXICO - Following a lengthy discussion, selectmen voted unanimously with the town manager's recommendation for an across-the-board property increase of 20 percent to bring the town up to state valuation.
