Tis the season for craft fairs
RIVER VALLEY- It’s that time of year again when local artisans start packing their totes for the Christmas season of craft fairs. Those residents in the River Valley area won’t have to look too far for their homemade gifts, as there are plenty of fairs being held right in our own backyard. So, get your pencil sharpened and start making your list of craft fair to-dos, to-gets and must-haves.
Beginning with the 20th Annual Rumford Elementary School Craft Fair, this one will be held Saturday, October 26 at the school from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. For all of you moms out there who are sending the children off for youth hunt day with dad, this will be a great time for you to get some secret Santa shopping done.
The following weekend, you’ll have to travel a little further, but it will be worth, I’m sure. On November 1, the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee will be hosting their annual craft fair at the Maine Veterans’ Home, located at 477 High Street in South Paris.
With 32 tables reserved by crafters, as well as food artisans, there will be plenty of goodies for all ages. The sale runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On November 9, you’ll have a full day on your hands with three craft fairs to attend. The first is being held at the Rumford United Methodist Church, located at 455 Linnell St. Crafters will be showing their goods beginning at 9 a.m. and wrapping things up at 1 p.m.
Also, on that day, the American Legion in Rumford will host their fair from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and another, held by the Beacon House and hosted at the Eagles in Rumford, will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
After those busy couple of weekends you’ll have a rest and a chance to figure out what treasures you’ve already found and what you are still in need of. That rest will be much needed, as the last one of the season in the area will be the annual Christmas in the Valley craft fair held at Mountain Valley High School.
Doors to the high school, located on Hancock St., will open for crafters at 9 a.m. and will run throughout the morning and into the afternoon until 2 p.m.
Crafters from all over the state are known to be in attendance at this fair with unique and one-of-a-kind goods. Whether you’re looking to spend a day out with some friends hopping from fair to fair, or you are a serious craft fair enthusiast, your season is here to see some amazing homemade gifts.
