Selectmen appoint two for withdraw committee
DIXFIELD- It seems there was some confusion among the media and townspeople following the vote on whether or not to fund the withdrawal procedures from RSU 10.
Selectmen took time during last week’s meeting to assure residents that townspeople had voted 695-543 to begin withdrawal procedures and to also take $50,000 from surplus to fund the project.
Chairman of the Board, Macky Gill, informed residents that Town Manager Gene Skibitsky will be notifying the Maine Department of Education of the election results and a committee will be formed to see the process through.
That committee will include one board of selectmen member, a member of the public, one person from the petitioning group and one member of the RSU 10 school board.
Selectman Robert Withrow expressed interest in being appointed to the committee and selectmen unanimously appointed him. Selectmen also recognized Jon Holmes as the member to represent the petitioning committee.
