Planning board members appointed

DIXFIELD- Selectmen took time at their Monday evening meeting to appoint three citizens to round out the seven-person planning board, including one alternate.

Selectman Norine Clarke nominated Tim Kelly to take the first full position, being supported unanimously, he will take that seat which will expire in 2015. Selectman Hart Daley nominated Norman Mitchell for the second available seat, stating, “I think he would be a good representative of the outlying areas of town. He has experience, he’s always here at every meeting and for those and the obvious reasons I would like to see him take that position.”

Selectmen voted 3-2 against that appointment; Chairman Gill and selectmen Withrow and Clarke were opposed.

Robin Marshall was next to be nominated to serve in the second seat, which will also expire in 2015 and by a 3-2 vote was approved.

Police Chief Richard Pickett was appointed the alternate position which will expire in 2013.

Currently Craig Coulthard, Tom Childs and Cindy Payne are the existing members on the board.

The full board will be invited to a December 10 meeting at the library to begin discussions with Kristin Collins in regards to reviewing and changing the citizen- approved pro-wind ordinance that was on the November ballot.

Changes to the ordinance include clerical issues, as well as the inclusion of a zoning map. That meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
