FPES secures $10K grant

PERU- According to Nick Waugh, President of the Friends of Peru Elementary, the group has secured a $10,000 grant from the trust of Marshall Gibson.

“Last Tuesday I mailed off our application for the $10,000 Gibson grant. I opened a mailer with his return address on it on Saturday and was stunned to learn that we have been awarded the grant. Furthermore, the check will be issued this week.”

The FPES have been working feverishly to get the Peru Community Center back up and running. They currently have River Valley Zumba and Neighborly Senior Citizens as regular tenants, Western Maine Street Rod Association will be holding a fall foliage weekend there, possible other tenants include a yoga class, firearms safety class and a musical instruction class. The Servant's Heart food pantry is currently in the process of moving into the building.

Their next fundraising event is planned for March 25, when they will hold a pancake breakfast to honor Maine Maple Sunday.
