Free meal for military families
RUMFORD- The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24 will be offering a free meal to honor military families and to say thank you for the sacrifices they have made in support of our country.
“We honor our military service men and women and sometimes forget that the families left behind go unnoticed,” stated Tricia Thurston, Auxiliary President. “They are here to keep their families going and deserve to be recognized, as well.”
The supper will be held on Saturday, May 14 with a social hour being held from 5 to 6 p.m. and supper being served immediately following. The sit-down meal will consist of pork roast, potatoes and gravy, vegetable and a roll. There will also be a vegetarian dinner available for those who prefer it. Dessert will also be included and a cash bar will be available, as well.
All area military families are welcome to attend and asked to RSVP by May 9 to Tricia at 357-3289. It is important that you RSVP in order to allow for adequate seating and food to be supplied.
Invitations will be sent out to those families that the auxiliary already has addresses for through their support of the Comforts from Home program.
The hope of the American Legion Auxiliary is to provide a network of military families within the community and to also find those families they have not yet been introduced to in order to show their support.
