Successful Christmas in July
To the Editor;
We had a very beautiful, very warm, weekend for Christmas in July this year. I was really impressed, riding around the pond, by the fact that a large majority of cottages were decorated. Our judges this year were Rumford Town Manager Carlo Puiia and his wife Paula. They had a good time circling the pond and were also impressed by the active participation of homeowners and boat owners in the festivities.
The judges awarded the following prizes for cottage decorations: First place, $50 Brian's Bistro G/C, Cindy and Jill Hamann (Parady Lane); Second place, $30 The Bus G/C, Steve Gallant (Greenwood Rd.) these two were very close in the judges eyes; Third place, $20 Worthley Pond Store G/C, Patrick and Roxanne Gorham (East Shore Rd.); Honorable Mention, $10 Worthley Pond Store G/C, Frank and Eleanor Laycock (East Shore Rd.).
The judges awarded the following for boat decorations: First place, $50 Brian's Bistro G/C, David and Karen Arsenault; Second place, $30 The Bus G/C, Joel Tardiff and family; Third place, $20 Worthley Pond Store G/C, Bubba Reno and family.
We thank Carlo and Paula for taking time out of their busy schedule to be our judges. Thanks to Kathy Barrett for taking the numbers that the judges assigned to contenders and transferred them into names and addresses. Also, thanks to John and Donna Dixon for the use of their pontoon boat as the judges barge. Thanks to Christine Oldham for registering the decorated boats at The Bus.
And, a special thanks to everyone who decorated their cottages and/or boats, from one or two strings of lights to full yard extravaganzas, it was a complete community participation and a great time for everyone.
Thank you all.
