Skibitsky hired as interim manager

DIXFIELD- Selectmen met in yet another executive session last week in their continued search for a town manager. Selectmen Withrow, Clarke and Gill voted in favor of hiring Gene Skibitsky back as interim manager until they are able to fill the position, with Selectmen Daley and Belskis opposing.

“We had three good candidates,” noted Chairman Macky Gill. “But, due to circumstances unforeseen, two accepted other positions and we couldn’t come to a consensus on the third. We want to make sure we get the right person in here for this job, and not just settle to fill the position.”

Selectmen have been working closely with the Maine Municipal Association to find candidates that meet their needs as a town. When the board began their search in the fall of 2012, they agreed they wanted someone with a strong financial background, someone who worked well with the public and had experience to take over Skibitsky’s role as road commissioner. They are hopeful the right person will come along.

Skibitsky’s first day back on the job was Tuesday.
