AED deployed for personal use
MEXICO- Med-Care is pleased to announce that it has just deployed an Automated External Defibrillator to a common citizen for personal use. Recently the device was deployed to a family in the Lewiston. This family is very familiar with cardiovascular disease and has first-hand experiences. After several close calls requiring the ICD placement, later they feel it is time to be proactive. He has plans for his wife, family members, and friends to receive training on the use of this device as well as CPR and we are assisting him in accomplishing this.
Director of Community Outreach, Laurieann Milligan stated, “We are pleased to see individuals taking on this proactive approach in their own health care and we hope it is one that will create a trend throughout the region for others that may have serious cardiac conditions and want to add an additional level of security within their life.”
Milligan stated, “We are proud to be serving the community in this capacity. We want to be here for you, our residents and the overall public, and to be deploying the much-needed awareness and empowering individuals to take action. We realized last year after deploying our first AED for in-home use that it is time. Most recently that home-use AED was indeed used and saved a life!”
“It also opened our eyes to the fact that we have not advertised and marketed AEDs to local citizens and to the fact that these devices are available for purchase through our organization for personal use.”
Milligan continued, “This falls in line with our mission of being part of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association as well as the Heart Safe Community program. Providing public education on cardiac arrest risk factors, providing public education and CPR training, deploying AEDs, ensuring that the entire chain of survival is accomplished within our region and eliminating sudden cardiac arrest by 2020 are all part of our goals and objectives at Med-Care Ambulance.”
If anyone is interested in additional information on AEDs and if they would be appropriate to consider within your lifestyle, please feel free to give Med-Care a call, 364-8748, and speak with Laurieann.
Director of Operations, Dean Milligan stated, “Having deployed over 150 AEDs throughout the River Valley Communities in a multitude of strategic locations it may now be time to focus on deploying them into the homes of high risk cardiac patients.”
