Employee health and wellness

MEXICO- Oakdale Country Club was host to the Rumford Paper Company employees recently to help promote health and wellness and to raise funds for Camp Sunshine. The employee goal was to raise $2,000 to sponsor a family for one week at Camp Sunshine in Casco.
The mill pulled together 18 teams of four players each to participate in the all-day health-conscious tournament. Employees were asked to walk throughout the day and not to use carts, in order to promote the healthy activity.
There were chances at a 50/50 drawing, prizes for closest to the pin, hole in one, bet to green, closest to line, longest drive, par 3 and even a chance to win $250 to the Oakdale Pro Shop.
Teams enjoyed the air-conditioned comforts of the Oakdale clubhouse, as well as complimentary water, juice, and various snacks at the registration table and a break was also available at the #6 hole.
They were urged to keep hydrated, apply sunscreen, wear a visor and to remember to stretch.
Teams names included Sons of Italy, Short Hitters, R-15 E&I, The Griswads, The Jimpanzees & Co., and the Maintenance Hackers.
Becca Breton, an administrative rep for Rumford Paper Company, noted, “This has been a great way for the employees to get out and raise money for a good cause. They have all been really excited about it and happy to help.”
The Rumford Paper Company raises funds mill-wide throughout the year in order to help with local food pantries, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Camp Sunshine, as well as many other deserving charities.
