Manager begins new position
DIXFIELD- Linda Pagels-Wentworth was appointed to her new position as town manager, along with her additional duties as road commissioner, tax collector, town clerk and treasurer during Monday night’s regular meeting.
Eugene Skibitsky, who had been hired back by the town during the interim of the hire, noted, “We want to welcome Linda to her first meeting. She and I discussed it prior to, and I’ll oversee this meeting so she can get up to speed.”
The selectmen reviewed the town warrant and with correction to a couple articles, the warrant for the May 23 annual town meeting will be ready for public view.
Selectmen also approved the recipients of the annual distinguished citizen award to be presented to three people this year; Kip Fletcher and Paul and Patty Jones.
“There’s nothing that says we can’t give it to more than one person,” noted Chairman of the Board, Macky Gill.
The three will be presented with the honor during the annual town meeting, which will be held in the community room of Dirigo High School on Thursday, May 23, beginning at 6 p.m.
Selectmen Robert Withrow also brought the public up to speed on the RSU 10 withdrawal committee, noting that the town still has to approve the action to withdraw from the process. Eugene Skibitsky questioned, “What if the town doesn’t approve it? What does that mean for the committee?”
Selectman Withrow stated that he didn’t know and they would have to see what happens at town meeting.
A copy of the agreement between the town and the RSU can be requested at the town office.
