Peak-a-Week Club sets 2011 event schedule
REGION- The Peak-a-Week Club has set their schedule for the 2011 season and hope to see more people out enjoying the fantastic adventures that are ready to be had throughout the area. All experience levels are welcome.
Along with hiking on Wednesday nights and weekends, the club will be gathering for Monday evening kayaking/canoeing adventures as well.
Three weeks of paddling on area ponds have been scheduled, with the fourth being a free week. This free week will be used for any paddling events that may have been rained out during the previous three weeks.
Those interested in the paddling events should arrive with your kayak/canoe in tow at the Information Center at 5 p.m. The group will depart the center at 5:15 p.m. sharp (or you may meet at the boat landings).
Paddlers are encouraged to bring snacks, beverages and survival gear.
For those that decide to hike the first couple of peaks, you can expect to encounter snow and are advised to dress accordingly. Also, bring snacks, water, flashlight and any first aid gear you may require.
The hiking club meets at the Information Center parking lot in Rumford at 5 p.m. and carpool for Wednesday hikes, and 9:30 a.m. for weekend hikes in Maine and 8:30 a.m. for NH hikes.
There will be no formal canceling of events. Go at your own risk.
