There’s a new shop in town, Grid Iron Motors
RUMFORD- Winnie Nickerson has been working with anything auto since he was a small child running around his family’s auto sales, and in 2000, he realized his passion was for motorcycles and opened a bike shop in Industry. With his keen business sense and his “partner in crime,” Tracy Gauvin, being from town, they wanted to offer their great service to area riders.
“I couldn’t believe with the amount of riders there are in this area, that there wasn’t a motorcycle shop,” noted Nickerson. “I’m excited to be here and see what we can do. I want to be a part of this community and I have a lot of ideas I want to get going on.”
Some of those ideas is to have a motorcycle class at the shop, bring area students in who are interested in learning the trade of motorcycle repair and fabrication, as well as paint work.
The garage can get you any part you’re looking for your ride, and is currently working on becoming a state inspection center, as well as a certified Harley Davidson service center. They are adding space for their retail center, which will include clothing, helmets, hats and more.
“We like bikes! What’s the point of having a toy if you can’t ride it,” stated Nickerson. “We want everyone around here to enjoy their ride and we can help them customize their bikes so they will enjoy it more.”
Nickerson particularly likes to see more women riding and wants to be sure they know that if their bike doesn’t fit, they need to pay the shop a visit and let them work their magic.
Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., but call ahead and they will work with your schedule.
Whether you ride a Fat Bob, V-Star or you ride a Vespa to save on gas, Grid Iron Motors wants to be your guide to a better ride.
