Monologues of women’s lives
REGION -– As performance night nears, the cast members of the 2011 production of The Vagina Monologues have been rehearsing their monologues; these stories are the result of over 200 interviews of women around the world by award winning VDay founder Eve Ensler.
Each year, VDay is celebrated and acknowledged through these stories, which are performed by local women. The purpose of the production is to raise awareness about violence to women and girls. Performed with humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength.
Last year, REACH sponsored the production at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School to sold out audiences. This year, the production will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Mtn. Valley High School.
Tickets can be purchased at Bartash Cards and Gifts, Congress Street, Rumford; Red Hill Natural Foods, Waldo Street, Rumford or the REACH office 1 E. Main St., S. Paris. Tickets purchased in advance are $12, at the door $15, students and seniors $10. For more information, call REACH 743-9777.
