An air-head balloon festival
RUMFORD -- Recently, 49 Franklin hosted the Air-Head Balloon Festival.
The event featured the amazing and zany Jer Remian and the incredible and foolish antics of Scot Grassette.
Remian performed his amazing and wacky stunts for families. His specialty is his giant balloon creations. Youngsters marvelled at the giant birds, masks, hats, and zoo animals.
Grassette, owner of 49 Franklin, is the president of the Society of American Magicians of Portland and has sculpted balloon animals for over 25 years. He pleased the crowd with his fast hands and quick twists, including creating a basic balloon dog in seconds flat.
Among the highlights were balloons pierced by razor-sharp needles nails and spikes, the incredible color change, cut and restored, and other magical effects done exclusively with latex balloons.
The audience enjoyed a balloon workshop and how to make balloon creations, many air head stunts including, Air-Zooka ping-pong ball on a hair dryer, toilet paper shooter, balacing balloons on their noses.
The day concluded with drawing for a variety of balloon gifts, someone winning a giant three-foot helium filled earth balloon!
