“While serving my third term in the Maine Legislature, I sponsored four legislative bills and all became law. The one I am most proud of is LD 20 An Act Establishing a Vietnam War Remembrance Day. This was in recognition of the service and sacrifice of those veterans of the United States Armed Forces who served during the Vietnam War, the State designates March 30th of each year as Vietnam War Remembrance Day.
The State of Maine recently held the historical event in celebrating the first Annual Vietnam War Remembrance Day on March 30, 2012. This bill was for my brother, brother-in-law, extended family and friends, and every veteran who served in the Vietnam War. This was for them. As we all know, there are many different holidays and days of remembrance recognizing the different wars for veterans. It's time we recognized our Vietnam Veterans, too. Although it’s not nationally recognized yet, state after state is passing this same type of legislation to recognize and honor our Vietnam Veterans.
I initiated and worked with the IF&W Boating Division and have completed the new public boat ramp behind the Mexico Town Hall in the fall of 2010.
I have worked very hard through legislation and constituent services to benefit District 93 and the people of Maine. I would be honored to have your continued support and vote to represent you in the 126th Maine Legislature. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 364-5665 or sheryljbriggs@gmail.com.”
Rep. Briggs and her husband Richard live in Mexico. They have two grown children and three grandchildren.
