Mexico man awaiting extradition
MEXICO -- A 24-year-old Mexico man remains behind bars without bail in the Androscoggin County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Rhode Island for the third time this year.
Mexico Police Lt. Roy Hodsdon said the name of Darryl Streeper, Jr. has been "a common link to our agencies," noting that he has devoted much paperwork and man hours to the alleged unlawful activities of Streeper.
Hodsdon added that he continues to work to link Streeper with several burglaries and thefts in Mexico.
The latest arrest of Streeper took place on Nov. 28 for warrants out of Rhode Island for being a fugitive from justice.
Hodsdon then went over the long list of dealings with Streeper, which included:
* Nov. 8 -- warrants and burglary in Mexico;
* Aug. 31 -- burglary and violation of bail conditions;
* July 24 -- violation of probation;
* July 9 -- taken back to Rhode Island for being a fugitive from justice, then released, and Streeper returned to Maine.
Mexico police officer Roy Hodsdon said Streeper broke into two homes on July 16 and 20 on Roxbury Road and Harlow Hill Road, stealing jewelry and a jewelry box. An informant told police that Streeper was bragging to people about committing a burglary with an accomplice.
Earlier, Streeper was arrested on March 23 for being a fugitive from justice on a Rhode Island warrant.
Streeper was charged on Feb. 23 in a case of gasoline theft from the Big Apple on Feb. 16. He was also charged with failure to pay fines for violation of condition of release and failure to pay fines for assault.
