Mountain Valley High School Top 10 students

Megean Bourgeois is the daughter of Christopher Bourgeois of Rumford.

Megean has taken a full load of honors and AP classes throughout her high school career and has made it a point to maintain diversity in her classes every year. She has been involved in Mountain Valley High School’s art, theatre, writing and music communities.

She spends several hours of each week volunteering by running the high school’s recycling program and coaching gymnastics.

Her sophomore year, she became the MVHS theatre lighting director and has participated in each of MVHS’s musicals and plays.

Megean has also participated in gymnastics since she was seven years old. Her accomplishments in gymnastics include becoming the 2008 USAG level eight state champion and the 2010 YMCA level nine state champion.

Megean has been a part of the MVHS band, jazz band and pep band. She has also displayed art in the MVHS art show each year of high school. Megean also writes and illustrates for the Young Writers Anthology. This year, Megean became president of her National Honor Society chapter.

Megean plans to major in history and sociology at the University of Southern Maine.

Justin Carter is the son of Pamela and Stacy Carter of Rumford.

Justin has challenged himself throughout his high school career by taking many of the available AP and Honors courses. He was inducted into the National Honor Society his sophomore year and has won numerous awards for academic excellence and classroom awards for English and Spanish.

Justin has participated in extra-curricular activities, such as basketball and he is a captain of the track and field team.

As a junior, Justin enjoyed attending Dirigo Boys’ State at Thomas College and the Maine Youth Law Enforcement Academy in Vassalboro. He has participated in the Western Maine Junior Rifle Team, Jiu-Jitsu, and is currently a member of the Mexico Police Explorers. He has taken part in a vast number of community service projects.

Justin is anxious to attend Husson University in the fall where he will pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, with the hopes of working for the Maine Warden Service.

Lynsie Dupuis is the daughter of David and Melissa Dupuis of Rumford Center.

Throughout her high school career, she has challenged herself by taking Honors and AP classes and has achieved high honors all four years. She was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year and received the book award from St. Michael’s College.

She has participated in sports all four years, including varsity soccer and softball. She has been a dance student of Miss Stephany’s for 15 years, performing tap, jazz and lyrical. During the winter months, she works at Black Mountain of Maine and during the summer months she works at the Big Adventure Center.

Next year she will be attending either the University of Maine of Orono, or St. Michael’s College in Vermont with an undeclared major.

Cameron Kaubris is the son of Matthew and Pamela Kaubris of Rumford and the brother of Alexa.

Cam’s academic accolades began freshman year being named Student of the Term. As a junior, Cam was chosen as a member of the National Honor Society and was elected as the Secretary for the Class of 2011. He has received classroom awards in English, History, Health, Broadcasting, P.E. and Spanish.

Last summer, Cam represented MVHS at Dirigo Boys’ State, where he was awarded the Distinguished Citizenship Award for the town of Lincoln and was elected a State Senator. At the end of last year, he won the “I Dare You Award” in recognition of his integrity, balance of life and leadership. In 2008, he was the starting quarterback for the state championship Falcon football team. In 2010, he served as captain and quarterback and led the team to another state championship. Cam now holds the MVHS record for most interceptions in a season with 11. He was recognized on the 2010 Portland Press Herald First Team Defensive and a Campbell Conference All-Star.

Cam’s honors include being named a 2010 Fitzpatrick Finalist as one of the top three football players in the state. Recently, he has been asked to represent Western Maine in the Shriner’s Annual Lobster Bowl. In basketball, Cam received MVC All-Conference First Team honors for the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. During his junior year, he was elected captain and helped lead the Falcons to an MVC Championship title.

This year, Cam was named MVC Player of the Year and achieved the individual milestone of scoring 1,000 career points. He was named a Mr. Maine Basketball semi-finalist and participated in the 2011 Maine McDonald’s All-Star game, where all proceeds from the game were donated to the Ronald McDonald House, a cause close to Cam’s heart in honor of his friend, the late Danny Garneau.

In baseball, Cam was a starter on the 2009 MVC Championship Team. In 2010, he was named MVC first team shortstop. Cam has coached a youth floor hockey team for the past four years at the GRCC. Cam also lends his time to WVAC Channel 7 as a commentator and videographer of local sporting events.

Cam plans to attend Bates College in the fall and major in History with a concentration in Government or Law. He intends to play basketball and/or football for the Bobcats next season.

Jesse Milledge is the son of John and Vikky Milledge of Rumford and an older brother to Dalton.

Throughout high school, he has challenged himself by taking Honors or AP classes each year. He has been on high honors all four years. He has received several classroom awards in various subjects. Although Jesse is not active in extracurricular activities, he enjoys to be outside the most. Four wheeling, snowmobiling and hunting are just a few of his extra activities that he participates in.

Jesse will be attending the University of Maine at Orono to pursue a career in engineering.

Kera Miller is the daughter of Pam and Barry Miller of Rumford.

Kera has been very involved throughout her high school career. She has been a member of the student council all four years and is a member of the River Valley Interact Club. Kera was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year. She has participated avidly in homecoming events each year, was a member of the yearbook staff, the Class of 2011 cookbook fundraising committee and the junior prom committee.

Kera has been a member of the alpine ski team throughout high school, achieving top ten status each year in either the conference or state championships, receiving a bronze medal at the 2011 state championship.

Kera is currently choosing a college to attend and her major is undecided.

Erin Milligan is the daughter of Sherry Milligan and the late Michael Milligan of Rumford.

Erin is the valedictorian of the Class of 2011. Erin has challenged herself throughout her high school career by taking the hardest courses offered and getting involved in many extra-curricular activities. She has been an active member of the Student Council since her freshman year and this year was a Co-President. Erin was also inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year.

She has been involved in the River Valley Interact Club and enjoys giving back to her community. For the past 12 years, Erin has participated in the Relay for Life and more recently, the Dempsey Challenge last fall. Erin has served on the prom committee and was the class marshal at graduation last year. This year, Erin received the MPA Principal’s Award. Erin has also worked at Black Mountain of Maine and Frosty Delite.

She has been involved in dance since she was very young. She takes jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap and lyrical classes.

Erin has been accepted at several private, prestigious liberal art schools throughout New England and is currently deciding which college she will attend next year with an undeclared major.

Nathan Papsadora is the son of Michael and Kimberly Papsadora of Rumford.

He participated on the alpine ski team for all four years of high school. Nathan has been a member of the Interact Club for three years. Over the summer of his junior year, he participated in Dirigo Boys’ State at Thomas College. Nathan has challenged himself by taking several Honors and AP classes every year, while maintaining high honors for every term of every year. Nate is also the only student in the Class of 2011 able to boast having perfect attendance for all four years of high school.

Nate plans to attend Husson University in the fall to pursue a career in pharmacy.

McKenzie Paterson is the daughter of Eddie and Diane Paterson of Rumford.

McKenzie has been greatly involved throughout her high school career. She has challenged herself by taking many Honors and AP courses in school, and has received numerous classroom awards over the past four years.

In addition to school, McKenzie has been involved in numerous activities in her community, including Student Council, which she is the Co-President, Interact Club, holding the Publicity Chair since her freshman year. She has also been a member of the National Honor Society, being the Vice President this year and a member of the GEAR UP Council. She was also on the junior prom committee.

McKenzie has participated in varsity sports since her freshman year, including soccer, basketball and softball. Her senior year, McKenzie was a captain of the soccer and basketball team and has been an all-star since her junior year. Her sophomore year, she attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference and Maine Youth Leadership Conference. She continues to attend the Maine Youth Leadership Conference every year. Along with being on the high honor roll her entire high school career, she is the Salutatorian of her class.

McKenzie is looking forward to attending Syracuse University to pursue a career in International Relations.

Lauren White is the daughter of the late Robert White of Fairfield, and Karen White Thurston and Glendon Thurston of Rumford.

Throughout her high school career, she has been involved in many diverse activities. Lauren played softball all four years, three years of soccer and, in need for a change of pace, played field hockey her senior year.

She has been very involved with the yearbook for three years and designed the cover for the 2011 yearbook. Lauren served on the Student Council her sophomore year and has been involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Lauren is also very active in 4-H, raising champion market lambs and steers. Along with being on the honor roll her entire high school career, she has received multiple classroom teacher awards in math, quilting, ceramics, Spanish and outstanding academics.

Lauren is planning on pursuing a career in Radiography specializing in ultrasonography at Southern Vermont College.
