Hospital Annual Appeal donors honored
RUMFORD -- Rumford Hospital recently honored donors who have given to the Annual Appeal for 10 years or more with a reception, the gift of annual appeal pins and photographs with hospital president John Welsh and members of the Board of Trustees.
About 70 donors, including individuals, families and organizations were invited to join members of the Board and the Development Committee to celebrate the donors’ commitment to the hospital.
“In 2000 when we initiated the Rumford Hospital Annual Appeal, we hoped that there were people in our community just waiting to be asked to support the hospital on a regular, yearly basis,” explains Jolan Ippolito, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Development Committee. “We found people who are proud of their community hospital and understand that donations to the hospital can make a real difference for their families, friends and neighbors.”
Gifts, whether large or small, are vital symbols of support in the hospital’s community.
The donors who give year after year - faithful, loyal donors - are the backbone of all fundraising efforts. “The first few of years of the appeal we had a limited mailing list,” adds Ippolito, “so we are going to continue to honor donors who reach that 10-year mark. We value their on-going support.”
Annual Appeal funds are allocated by the hospital’s Capital Expenditures Committee to areas of greatest need that directly benefit both inpatients and outpatients. Funds may be designated for use in specific areas, such as the Cardiac Rehab, Lariviere Oncology and the Diabetes Education funds. The hospital also receives many family-designated memorials.
“All these generous gifts symbolize our community’s connection to its hospital,” notes Ippolito. “We hope that this 10-year donor program illustrates just how much their giving means to us.”
