RUMFORD -- The River Valley Rotary Club is hosting an informational social at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2 at the Hope Association.
The meeting will be comprised of a social followed by guest speaker Ann Lee Hussey, who will provide an informative presentation on Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.
Ann Lee Hussey joined Rotary in April 2002 and immediately became involved. As a polio survivor, she has a passion for the polio eradication program and shares Rotary International's vision for a polio free world. She strongly believes one person can make a difference and that it is a privilege and a gift to do the work of Rotary.
Ann Lee has shared her story and passion for polio eradication throughout the United States and around the world, at numerous District Conferences, Zone Institutes, PETS, Foundation Seminars and club meetings, including the International Institute in Salt Lake City in 2007, the Presidential Peace Conference in Nairobi, Kenya in Sept. 2007 and for Health and Hunger at the LA Convention. She is a Major Donor of the Rotary Foundation.
River Valley Rotary has taken recent steps to grow the membership of the club so that they can strengthen our commitment locally and internationally.
Recently they have become a morning club meeting for an hour weekly at 7:30 a.m. as well as introduced the the quarterly social which has been well received by the members. These changes have helped the club grow from 21 members to over 30. The fellowship of members is one of the highlights of being a Rotarian and they are very interested in adding to that fellowship.
If you think you might me interested in participating in a local as well as international service club, then consider attending this informational meeting and bring a friend.
