Carthage Old Home Day this Saturday

CARTHAGE -- Carthage Old Home Day will be held on Saturday in the Carthage Town Office area. Rain date is Sunday.

The parade will like up at 9 a.m. by the fire station and get underway at 9:30.

The events include horseshoe and cribbage tournaments (with first and second place trophies), a dunk tank (three balls for $1), a bounce house (15 minutes for $1), $1 and $3 face painting, free kids games and a pie eating contest.

There is free space for vendors, music and Model T rides, and the historical museum will be open.

All raffles are one ticket for $1 or six for $5. Money from the 50/50, DVD theater system and hourly pin raffles will go to the 2013 Carthage Old Home Days.

The hammock raffle money will go for the Easter, Halloween and Christmas events in Carthage. Donations are always welcome.

There will be a barbeque chicken dinner for $6, which includes choice of breast and wing, or leg and thigh, macaroni or potato salad, coleslaw, roll and butter and small soda.

There will be strawberry shortcake for $2.50, red hot dogs for $1.50, homemade french fries for $3, and popcorn for $1.
