Chamber Chatter
I am not crazy about the wet weather we have been having but it sure makes the fall directly behind my office a majestic sight. Many people have been stopping by the Rumford Information Center to view the power of our Rumford Falls!
On May 20th, Relay for Life is having its annual barbeque at the Rumford branch of the Franklin Savings Bank from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For $5, you will be served a hot dog, drink, chips and a brownie. What a bargain for a wonderful cause. The Annual Relay for Life Rally is scheduled for June 3-4 at the Hosmer Field Complex, rain or shine. I am a small part of the event as I help Peggy Briggette with the reading of the luminaries, a touching and meaningful part of a tremendous weekend of activities.
Peggy was one of our award winners (Volunteer of the Year along with BMOM non-profit, Chip Towle, business person and Mountain View EyeCare, customer service). It was the first time I was involved or attended this event and it went really well and we had a great turnout. BMOM has a great facility and the food was excellent. A great time had by all.
The 4th of July event includes, the fireworks (we are still accepting donations) display and the activities being planned that will take place at the Hosmer Field Complex. The River Valley Chamber of Commerce is having its Annual Lucky Duck Race! For $5 per duck (buy as many as you want) if your duck crosses the finish line first you win $550. Second place is $250 and third is $150. These ducks will be on sale at many of our member businesses as well as at the Rumford Information Center.
The Rumford Hospital Auxiliary is having its annual yard aale on May 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 209 Lincoln Ave.
