Logo contest workshop
RUMFORD -- The Beacon House Peer Center, 3 Canal St., is entering in a logo contest sponsored by the Consumer Council of Maine, with a grand prize being a $100 gift card from Reny's.
The premise for the logo is showing how people who have a crisis and law enforcement can work together. The idea is a connection of support, with the theme "Bridging the gap -- a dialog between law enforcement personnel and individuals who experience mental distress."
Ideas for the logo includes a foot bridge and a bell, the bell symbolizing the meltdown of the shackles used by asylums during the early days of mental health treatment to restrain people who had mental illnesses. These inhumane bindings were recast into a sign o hope -- the Mental Health Bell.
The winning logo will also be screen printed on t-shorts that will be available at an upcoming conference at the Farmington Local Council, a part of the Consumer Council System of Maine, a Voice for Consumers of Mental Health Services.
The logo should be submitted on standard size 8.5x11-inch paper stock of choice or submitted by emal in jpeg format. It must be non-offensive and in good taste, and represent the spirit of the conference theme.
Entries can be sent to: Logo Contest, c/o The Consumer Council System of Maine, 55 Middle St., Suite 2, Augusta, ME 04330, or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for entry submission is Wednesday, April 10.
