The Market at Mexico to open
MEXICO -- The Market at Mexico will be opening to the public this Thursday.
Carl Cutting said vendors selling breads, pastries, vegetables and crafts will be setting up under the former Lazarou canopy beside the Mexico Chicken Coop on Main Street.
He said they will open at 9 a.m. and sell until 3 or 4 p.m. They are also planning to open on Fridays, depending on how it goes.
Cutting said the canopy will be decorated in a Mexican theme as they try to attract the attention of passing motorists.
To start, vendors include Grandma's House. Carl will be selling vegetables and his wife will have breads and pastries. He added there were promises of two other vendors to be present.
Carl said there will also be a missionary table with items. Proceeds from this and the vegetables he sells will all go to the poor living in Africa.
Other vendors interested in participating can call Rev. Carl at 364-3424.
Meanwhile, across the river, the River Valley Farmer's Market opened last week for the second year at Exchange Street in Rumford. They are open for business each Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors at the opening included Fryewood Farms, No View Farm and Bakery, and Clay Hill Farm.
