"Massacre at Mexico High School"

MEXICO -- The last class at Mexico High School was in 1968. It's been said there may be spirits in the old historic building.

The River Valley Recreation Center will present Halloween walks at 6 p.m. this Friday and Saturday in an event called "Massacre at Mexico High School."

Kevin Gallant, one of the 60 volunteers for the event, said they've been busy working on costumes and props for event. There will be 25 different "scares" lined up for the walk, which will take about 15 to 20 minutes on the basement and top floors.

The gymnasium will be the holding area for participants, with each tour consisting of 10 people, with two tour guides dressed as Ghosts Busters -- one in front and the other behind the group.

The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Gallant said there is no minimum age, but parents are cautioned that the props may be too scary for some youngsters.

At the end of the walk, there will be a fun event where kids can get a prize. All youngsters will get a bag of candy.

Gallant said the recreation committee hopes to build on this event for next year if things go well.
