Oktoberfest is this Saturday
RUMFORD -- Oktoberfest is a day of family fun this Saturday from from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., children, teens and adults will find lots to do at the Hope Association's Adult Activity Center (former Armory) on Lincoln Avenue.
Crafters will offer their handmade wares for sale, including beautiful knit and crocheted items and jewelry. Goodies will also be for sale.
Children will be entertained with ring toss and other games and activities. A pancake breakfast is served by the Rotary Interactors from 8 to 10 a.m. Later snacks and lunch will be served from the kitchen. A special treat every year is the apple crisp from Rotarian Paul Jones.
There'll be the usual large selection of books - crowned by hundreds of romance novels by the bag at special prices. Come early for best selection.
Games of chance include a Chinese auction and pull tabs. The What Not Shop will be open, displaying items for sale from barely used clothing to knickknacks. Admission is free and so is the family fun!
Oktoberfest is sponsored each year by the Rumford Area Rotary Club, which splits the proceeds with Hope Association.
In addition to funding college scholarships for area seniors, the Rotary Club gives to local charities such as Rumford Hospital, Hope Association, local libraries, the Chisholm Ski Club and the Relay For Life.
