District Pinewood Derby Race

RUMFORD -- This Saturday, Cub Scouts from all over Oxford County will be at Mountain Valley High School as Cub Scout Pack 580 hosts the annual District Pinewood Derby.
Each pack in Abnaki District will send their top five racers from their individual Pack event. These top five cars will race against each other for first place in the district and the honor of designing next year's Pinewood Derby patch. In addition to the competitive racing, there is a "Best in Show" category. All nominees are voted on by his peers as the "Best Show Car" in their pack, and some even qualify as a racer, too.
This is the first time the Rumford Scouts have hosted a district event and they didn't hold back. There will be a lot of family fun in addition to the exciting competition, with delicious food, a bake sale, face painting, craft tables and a 60-foot mobile patch collection on display. Spectators are free, so bring your family and show support to the local scouting program.
