Public skating to begin

RUMFORD -- With the cold winter air settling in, the Rumford Park Department has been working to get their two skating areas ready for public skating.

If things go as expected, Parks Supt. Mike Mills said the Hosmer Field rink should be ready on Thursday, with supervised skating, music, access to the warming shack and skates available from 2-8 p.m.

That 2-8 p.m. will be the supervised skating times weekdays, with that time being 1-9 p.m. Saturdays and 1-7 p.m. on Sundays.

Until the Aubuchon field is ready for skating, the free skating and hockey may have to share the Hosmer Field rink at times, noted Mills.
