Fundraising effort to replace Bullrock
DIXFIELD -- The Dixfield Economic Development Council is continuing their fundraising efforts to replace the local icon, Bullrock.
The group has contracted with Ted Walker, carver of "the late" Bullrock, to create a replacement. It will not be available until spring so they will avoid setting him out in winter conditions and to give them the opportunity to make improvements to the Village Green site.
They have learned from their experience with the wooden structure and adaptations will be made to make sure that the most longevity possible may be secured.
As with all of the project of the Council, tax money is not used. The tax money voted at town meeting is used for small expenses such as advertising Dixfield in newspapers and bulletins, and other promotional type work. Therefore, fund must be raised and to that end, "Our Moose is Loose" t-shirts with a cartoon Bullrock on the back was designed by Barbara Lane of Peru, owner of Hot Colors and is for sale at the town office and at Log Cabin Craftworks.
Shirts are available in gray, green and orange in sizes children's small all the way to adult 5X and all sell for $10 each. They are fun, a conversation piece, a souvenir and most of all, they will help pay for their new "mascot."
Donations are always welcome and containers are on the counters of many of Dixfield's businesses.
