Oxford County Republican news
OXFORD -- Republicans from western and southern Maine attended, and thoroughly enjoyed, an Oxford County Republican fund raiser at 248 King St. on September 10.
Despite the threat of rain, the mood of the crowd was sunny as all who attended were delighted with the sharp, yet politically persuasive, remarks of Governor Paul R. LePage, the event’s guest speaker. The ever-charming First Lady was also in attendance and delighted everyone with whom she spoke.
The Governor spoke about his accomplishments over the past two plus years in office and what he would like to change over at least the upcoming 16 months. The Governor also spoke about his belief that a “workfare” program is far superior to a welfare program for the State of Maine . The primary focus of his remarks to the crowd were about the economy of Maine and its impact on working people in the state, employment in Maine with young people leaving the state for any sort of opportunity, and energy costs and their relevance to job creation in Maine and personal and fiscal responsibility.
It was a pleasure to welcome the Governor to this corner of Maine and, with his attendance, Governor Paul R. LePage indicated to all present that everyone must be part of his plan to put the state of Maine back on a track to good, sound, strong, responsible governance.
