Learn how you save money
MEXICO -- In these economic times, it is harder than ever to save money. However, an upcoming forum promises to show area families that it is possible to find ways to cut corners, pinch pennies and stretch a dollar.
Stretch a Dollar Day, which is free to all ages, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Region 9 School of Applied Technology, located at 377 River Rd.
There will be a wide variety of exhibitors, vendors and presenters to show the many ways there are to save money! It will cover all aspects of
savings -- from credit cards to home energy savings to economical meal planning and everything in between.
Dori Fellman, director of UMF Partnerships for Success GEAR UP, said, "Plans are coming along nicely. We are signing up workshops and exhibitors every day."
Some of the workshops so far are include Couponing, Fashion on a Dime, Financial Fitness, and Finance Authority of Maine, who will be doing their College Goal Fafsa workshop. Some of the exhibitors will be Western Maine Community Action, Oxford Credit Union, A Life Coach, Ways to make a second income, Community Concepts and U.S. Cellular.
There is also a door prize that local businesses can donate to. The Western Maine After School program will be selling lunch items also.

What is your savings tip? We are interested in hearing from anyone who would either man an informational table and/or present a workshop."
