SWOAM presents logging with ATVs
OTISFIELD -- Saturday's meeting of the western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine will present demonstrations of using ATVs to move sawlogs, pulpwood and firewood trees out of the woods with logging arches specifically designed for that use.
Also planned are demonstrations using logging arches for moving wood using hand power along with a demonstration of logging using a four-wheel drive tractor and winch. The free event open to anyone will be held at the home and woodlot of Merle Ring.
Coffee and donuts will be ready at 8:30 a.m. and the program starts at 9 a.m.
From Norway, take Rt. 118 west by Norway Lake and Rt. 117 left toward Harrison. At about six miles, take a left on the Gore Road. At the top of the hill take a right on Bow Street. At about a mile at the intersection of the Ahonen Road, keep going straight down the hill on the gravel road and go in the first drive on the left.
