Wanted: Elvis look-a-likes
WILTON -- Countryfolk Music Theatre, located on Route 2 in Wilton (East Dixfield section) is looking for Elvis look-a-likes for their one-day closing Country Sunday contest from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 4.
Each contestant will vie for a $20 prize and have two minutes to tell why he or she should win or sing an Elvis tune. This is the fifth year Countryfolk Music Theatre has closed with a famous entertainer look-a-like contest.
Past winners have been Bob Rivard from Leeds (Willie Nelson), Jim G from Livermore Falls (Dick Curless), Sally Daniels Latham of Norway (Dolly Parton) and Paula Kaiser of Fayette (Minnie Pearl).
Donations during the event support the Countryfolk Youth Music Scholarship awards presented annually.
Three judges will be selected from the audience.
Larry Bisbee, operator of the Countryfolk Project said, “Our closing Countryfolk Sunday of country music will be a one-day celebration of all the musicians and vounteers who contributed to the 12 years of music here in western Maine."
There will be a potluck meal, loads of country music, the Elvis look-a-like contest and a cookout at the end of the day for all the musicians and volunteers.
