Photo: PicasaCELEBRATING NATIVE AMERICANS OF THIS AREA -- Recently, the Mexico Historical Society held a meet to celebrate the Native Americans of this area. Highlights included drumming by Gary Labbe and Mitzi Sequoia; Kim Sequoia on how to make prayer ties then gifting all with one; Rita Cunningham brought baskets made by Peter Paul of Roxbury; Norm Vashon told stories of Metallik and Mollyockett; Bob Daigle brought a ceremonial peace pipe made in Pipestone, MN; Lorraine Legere explained how some Acadians in the area are descendants of the Native Americans in Canada; Irene Hutchinson told the story of Buckskin Sam; and Linda Petrie shared her search for a favorite book about young Native American boy.
