Aubuchon's expanding into feeds
RUMFORD -- Aubuchon is known for its hardware, but now the Falmouth Street store is expanding into feeds.
A new storage building is under construction beside the store. Manager Al Richard said that by this spring, the business will be offering a line of Purina Feeds.
"People have been calling every day because Purina Feeds is already listing us on their website as a place for their products," he said. The line includes feeds for goat, chicken, horse and deer.
Jim Adler, owner of J.L. Adler Carpentry of Andover, who is constructing the building, said it measures 16x44 feet in the front and 24x60 in the back.
Richard said the building will have plenty of room as it will be 50 feet high. "In this economy, it's nice to be able to meet a need."
He said other Aubuchon stores have successfully expanded into Purina Feeds, including their store in Belfast.
Earlier this month, Richard said their store has started offering small amounts of Purina Feeds.
