Margaret K. Thornton
RUMFORD -- Margaret L. Thornton, 79, died Sunday March 17, 2002 at her home on the South Rumford Road. Born in Wilsons Mills, Maine on July 7, 1922, she was the daughter of Joseph and Yula L. (Hall) Stevens. She attended Gould Academy. She retired from Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford in 1988. She was a member of Mount Zircon Chapter 142, Order of Eastern Star and the Rumford Point Congregational Church. She was married in Rumford, Maine on September 20, 1941 to the late William E. Thornton, Sr., who died in Rumford on May 25, 1976. Survivors include her son, William Thornton, Jr. of Rumford; three daughters, Patricia Blake of Bethel, Sharon Samela of Waterbury, CT, and Margo Davis of Auburn, six brothers, Joseph of New Hampshire, Guy, Richard, Albert, Philip, Alfred, all of Massachusetts; three sisters, Beverly Parent of Vermont, Phyllis Whitman of MA and Sally Lebeer, 10 grandchildren, Brian and Harlan Blake, and Amy Wheeler of Bethel, Joseph and Margaret Thornton of Rumford, Sara Seckington and Jennifer Samela of CT, Todd Davis of Bethel, Ryan Davis of Rumford and Kate Davis of Auburn; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Bud; and two sisters, Alberta and Pauline. Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at the Rumford Point Congregational Church with Rev. Deborah Jenks officiating. Interment in the spring will be in the Abbots Mills Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with visitation at 7 p.m. Wednesday by Mt.
