Earl R. Zinck
RUMFORD -- Earl R. Zinck, 76, widower of Gloria Parady Zinck of 29 Wyman Hill Road, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the Rumford Hospital with his family at his side. He was born March 11, 1926 in Rumford, the son of Alvin and Sarah Boyle Zinck. A resident of this community all of his life, he was a communicant of St. Athanasius St. John Church and a graduate of Stephens High School in the Class of 1944. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Earl was employed by Boise-Cascade for over 40 years, where he worked in the electrical department as an electrical foreman. An avid sportsman, he truly enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. For several years, Earl was the flagman for most northeastern ski jumping events, as well as a volunteering in the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid. "Bampy" as his grandchildren affectionately knew him, was proud of all his children for their accomplishments and had a special place in his heart for his 15 grandchildren, with whom he loved to go hiking and doing other out door activities. He was a member of the Chisholm Ski Club, Oakdale Country Club, Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW, was a recent recipient of the Boone and Crockett Club, and was a member of both the 25 and 40 Year Clubs of retired Boise Employees. Earl played semi-pro football and basketball after high school for the VFW Teams. Survivors include his five sons and theirs wives, Paul and Carol of Amesbury, MA, Peter and Tracey of Saco, Bob and Sheila of Groton, MA, John and Marie of Scarborough, and Stephen and Nancy of Wells; two daughters and theirs husband, Ellen and Jeff Worthing of Scarborough and Susan, and Brad Adley of Rumford; 15 grandchildren, David, Elizabeth and Jonathan Adley, Connor Worthing, Nicholas, Matthew, Thomas, Justin, Andrew, Scott, Corey, Ryan, Nathan, Aaron and Aidan Zinck; a brother, Henry and his wife, Mary-Lou of Rumford; and a sister and her husband, Faye and Hope Swygert of McDonough, GA. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, John and Arthur; and a sister, Marie. Ê Ê
