Ernest E. Gagnon

NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI -- Ernest E. Gagnon, 76, of North Providence died on February 20, 2011.

He was the loving husband of Vilma C. (Grelle) Gagnon, for 53 years.

Ernest was born in Rumford on July 29, 1934, the son of the late Emile and Yvonne (Caron) Gagnon.

He served as a Navy medic in the Korean War, was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1961 and received his MBA from the University of Rhode Island.

Ernest was a Eucharistic minister at St. Pius V Church in Providence. He was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Dillon Council and was a member of the Loggia Victoria #585 of the Sons of Italy. He loved to cook, travel and spend time with his family.

He was the father of Denise Andrade and her husband, George of North Providence, Robert J. Gagnon, MD and his wife Patricia Silvia, MD of Lakeville, MA, and Joseph E. Gagnon and his wife, Brenda (Horton) Gagnon of Ashford, CT; the loving pepere of Melissa and Amanda Blinkhorn, Jessica, Danielle, Rachel, Emily, Justin and Rosemary Gagnon; his three sisters, Rita Hodsdon, Claire Stearns and Jean Gallant; a brother, Arthur Gagnon; and many nieces and nephews.
