Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett

SANTA MARIA, CA -- Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett passed away on Feb. 18, 2011 in Santa Maria, CA.

She was born on June 24, 1921 in Peru. She lived with her husband, Vernard I. Moffett in Santa Maria from 1986 until her death.

Frances retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years. She started playing golf at age 66 and took first place at the Pismo Beach, CA Men's Club Invitational. In 1992, she received a trophy for having a low net, making Frances the club's champion.

She was an accomplished seamstress and a master as crewel stituary. She loved to knit and was a great cook.

Frances is survived by sisters, Jeanne Blunda of Peru, Beveral Powell of Peru and Mrs. Donald (Priscilla) Hilgenberg of Matlacha, FL; children, Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, CA, Robert T. Moffett of Denver, CO, Colleen J. Klessig of Sacramento, CA, Craig and Linda Moffett of La Mesa, CA, Mrs. Timothy (Cindi) Alls of San Diego, CA, and John and Peggy Moffett of Yuma, AZ; 12 grandchildren, Akimi Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, Andrew Nakagawa of La Mesa, Thomas Hutchison of San Diego, Chelsea Alls of San Diego, Tommie and Jonathan of Yuma, and Jeremy M. Moffett of San Diego; and six great-grandchildren, Kirin A. and Noa M. Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, Michael and Julia Moffett of Thornton, CA, Liam Quinn of Thornton, CO, and Audrey R. Alls of San Diego.

She is predeceased by her father, Omer W. Garneau Sr.; her mother, Mabel A. (Knox) Garneau; and four brothers, Cleston (Kack) Garneau, John Garneau, Marshall D. Garneau and Omer Garneau, Jr.

The family of Frances Moffett plan to have an open house on Saturday afternoon in Santa Maria to celebrate the life of Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett.
