Florence M. “Flolly” Barrett
RUMFORD -- Florence M. “Flolly” Barrett, 99 died on July 12, 2011 at the Rumford Community Home. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
Born in Mexico on February 27, 1912, she was a daughter of Michael and Florence (Kierstead) Olsen. She attended Mexico Schools.
She worked as a chamber maid at the Madison Motel and the Hotel Rumford in Rumford for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church and the Greater Rumford Senior Citizen’s Club.
She was married to the late Harold Skillin, who died in February of 1943, and was later married in Mexico on August 9, 1947 to the late James Barrett, who died in Mexico on August 5, 1967.
Survivors include three sons, James Barrett and his wife, Karen of Mexico, Edward Skillin and his wife, Caroline of Deerfield, NH, and Lawrence Skillin of MA; a sister, Elizabeth Glenfield of Hampton, NH; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Richard Skillin; a grandson, James “Jimbo” Barrett II; three brothers, James D., Warren V., and Michael Olsen; and a sister, Leonora Breau.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Mexico Congregational Church, Main Street, Mexico, with Pastor Connie Insley officiating. Interment will be in the Farrington-Morton Cemetery, Mexico. Friends are invited to call at the church after 1 p.m. Thursday prior to the funeral.
