Dorothy M. Bernard
RUMFORD -- Dorothy M. Bernard, 82, died on January 3, 2012 at the Rumford Community Home. She was a resident of South Rumford Road.
Born in Mexico on October 14, 1929, she was a daughter of Patrick and Mary (Richard) Martin. She was a graduate of Mexico High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Western Auto and Morrison Motors. She was a clerk at the Rumford District Court and she worked for Boise Cascade as a secretary.
Dot was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius-St. John Church. She was a member of the Acadian Society, Rumford/Mexico Historical Society where she served as a treasurer. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, St. Timothy Circle #504 Daughters of Isabella. She started the Country Kids 4-H Club in the 70’s. She enjoyed genealogy, quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed her family and traveling to Canada.
She was married in Mexico on June 27, 1953 to Edgar Bernard, who survives of Rumford.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sara Perry and her husband, Larry of Rumford; a son, Eric of Westbrook; a grandson, Oliver Perry of Rumford; sisters, Annie Papsadora of Rumford, Dorina Bernard and her husband, Olin of Rumford, and Alice Ceranowicz and her companion, Ben Benjamin of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Steven; and three brothers, Henry, Edmond and Rudolph.
