Arland Richard Burgess Sr.
MEXICO -- Arland Richard Burgess Sr., 80, of Mexico lost his brave battle with cancer on April 2, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Arland was born on October 24, 1932 in Leeds to Guy and Myrtle (Stevens) Burgess. He came from a family of 15 children.
He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ethyl Paper Company (now NewPage Corporation) from the Finishing Dept.
Arland loved to hunt, fish, tinker with motors and he also loved to cook. He loved spending time with his family. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life itself.
He married Eva May Turbide on July 12, 1954 and together they raised 6 children and one grandchild.
Arland is survived by three sisters, Arlene Burgess and Theresa Brown of North Leeds, Christine LaPlante of Livermore; his wife of 57 years, Eva of Mexico; four sons, Arland, Jr. (Rick), James and his wife, Susie, Torrey and his wife, Julie, all of Mexico, Matthew and his wife Sharon, of Rumford; two daughters, Sharon and her companion, Tom Averill of Mexico, Robin and her fiancé, Bill Ryerson of Vermont; the granddaughter they raised Crystal Burgess of Richmond, VA; his daughter-in-law, Heidi Heath of Rumford; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
