LEWISTON -- Edmond Collette, 82, passed away on Aug. 11, 2011 after a brief battle with stomach cancer.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he was born on March 10, 2929 to the late Willie and Laura Collette at Notre Dame, Des Bois, Canada.
Raised in Rumford from a young age, Edmond was employed by First National Grocery Store as a young man. He later worked for Bouffard's Furniture Store and the local paper company, retiring from Mead Paper Co. after 44 years of service.
His children always loved telling people who their father was because the reaction was always the same, "Oh, I know him, what a great guy!"
He never spoke poorly of anyone and had a smile for anyone he would meet. He was a patient man and was kind to everyone. More often than not, he loved to "tinker." He was not one to sit for long periods of time. He would find little jobs to do around the house, even if he had to create something wrong just to "fix" it.
He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Carol of Lewiston; daughters, Linda and husband, Eddy Martineau, of Bradenton, FL, Lisa and husband, Tim Barrieau, and Laurie and husband, John Soucy, all of Rumford, Julie and husband, Mark Plummer of Hermon, Pam Hockenbrocht and her boyfriend, Wayne Worcester of Saco, Tina Beaulieu of No. Waterboro, Colleen Collette of So. Paris; a son, Frank and his wife, Kathy Hockenbrocht of New York; his brother, Leo Collette of Rumford, Robert Collette and his wife, Louise of Roxbury Pond; a sister, Monique and her husband, Jim Lucy of Pennsylvania; and a sister-in-law, Vernice Collette of Rumford; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceased by his parents; his daughter, Judi Collette Holland; his great-granddaughter, Courtney Rae Starling; his brothers, Eddy and Raymond Collette; and his first wife, Anita Collette.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Parish of the Holy Savior.
