Ruth Danforth Davis
GORHAM -- Ruth Danforth Davis, 96, of Gorham and formerly of the Auburn Road in Peru, died on July 8, 2012 at the Gorham House, Gorham.
She was born in West Madison on August 8, 1915, the daughter of Archie and Mabelle (Tibbetts) Danforth. She graduated from Skowhegan High School and Farmington Normal School.
Ruth was a school teacher in Rumford for over 23 years and retired in 1979. She was a member of the Piscataquis Chapter of the Eastern Star, the Maine Teachers Association, and the Maine Retirement Association.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Davis and wife, June of Gorham; grandson, Jeremie Davis and wife, Stacy of Windham; granddaughter, JoHanna Davis of Wilton; great-grandson, Byron Davis of Windham; two nephews and a niece.
Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the South Side Cemetery, McLellan Street, Skowhegan, with Rev. John Gensel officiating. Those who desire, please contribute to the Dixfield Congregational Church, c/o P. O. Box 615, Dixfield, ME 04224 in her memory.
