RUMFORD -- Hector J. Dayon, 78 of Rumford went to Heaven on February 6, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born August 8, 1934 in Mexico to Wilfred and Emelia Richard Dayon. He received his education in Mexico.

In December of 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. After returning from serving his country, he met and later married Doris (Arsenault) Dayon on April 18, 1959.

He was a papermaker for 42 years. An avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Webb River Sportsman Club and the American Legion.

For many years he and his family vacationed in Prince Edward Island which was one of his favorite places. His greatest joy in life was supporting his son’s in their sporting activities. Hector was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Jeffrey and wife, Lisa, Keith, Shawn and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan and wife, Sara, Kera, Candice and AJ; great-granddaughter Layla; and siblings Dorothy Garrett, Vernice Collette, Robert Dayon, Shirley Dunn and Ronald Dayon.

He was predeceased by his parents.
