RUMFORD -- Irene Fisher, 86, of Rumford passed away on January 1, 2013.

Irene was born in Rumford on December 15, 1926, the daughter of Blandine Fisher Carrier and Leo Carrier. She attended Rumford schools.

Irene was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John’s Church, and a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne, and the Chisholm Ski Club.

She was married to Robert Fisher on August 11, 1947. They shared a life together for over 54 years until Robert’s passing on March 5, 2002.

Irene enjoyed family gatherings, knitting, reading, playing cards, and was an avid tennis fan.

Survivors include two sons, Bud Fisher and his wife, Barbara of Williamstown, MA, and Greg Fisher D.D.S. and his wife, Ann of Portland; two daughters, Diane Fisher Wood and her husband, Doug of Wells, and Linda Fisher Arsenault of Portland; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Arsenault Murphy, Leah and Stacy Arsenault, Woon Chul and Andrea Fisher, Mackenzie Fisher and Emily Wood; and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Kylie Murphy.

Predeceasing Irene was her daughter, Andrea; sisters, Anita Perry and Jeannette White, and a son-in-law, Robert Arsenault.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Irene at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Holy Martyr’s Church, 266 Foreside Rd., Falmouth.

Committal service will be held in the spring at St. John Cemetery of Rumford.

In lieu of flowers the Fisher family suggests memorials be made to the Chisholm Ski Club, P.O. Box 616, Rumford, ME 04276.
