Rosamond C. Haley
FARMINGTON -- Rosamond C. Haley, 81, of Third Street, Dixfield, formerly of Skowhegan, went to be with her Lord on February 8, 2013 at the Sandy River Nursing Home.
She was born October 19, 1931 in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of J. Stanley and Hattie (Barteaux) Crockett, graduated from Skowhegan High School and Bloomfield Academy, and attended business school in Skowhegan.
She worked as a reporter, photographer and columnist for the Somerset Reporter in Skowhegan for many years. She was active in her church and served the town of Skowhegan as a ballot clerk for many years. She was an Avon representative for 30 years. Rosamond attended the Rumford First Baptist Church and the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Skowhegan.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, collecting stuffed animals, and supporting many charitable organizations as well as spending time with her family and friends. She was known to many as the “Hat Lady.”
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie Dennett and husband, Scott of Dixfield; son, L.A. Watson-Haley and wife, Gina of Hillsboro, OR; sister, Gwendolyn Blodgett and husband, Gerald of Skowhegan; sister-in-law Rosemarie Crockett of York; three grandchildren, Ryan Dennett and wife, Devon of Gorham, Mary and Victoria Watson-Haley of Hillsboro, OR; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Gilbert Crockett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the United Baptist Church of Peru with Pastor Dan Pearson officiating. Interment in the spring will be in Skowhegan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to His Hands for Haiti, P.O. Box 62, New Vineyard, ME 04956 in her memory.
