Walter J. “Jim” Hutchins
RUMFORD –- Walter J. “Jim” Hutchins, 79, died on September 25, 2011 at his residence on the Wyman Hill Road in Rumford.
Born in Lewiston on July 7, 1932, he was a son of the late Charles and Beatrice (Prout) Hutchins. He attended schools in Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1952. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Diamond International and the Rumford Hospital in the Maintenance Dept.
He was married in Buckfield on July 23, 1955 to Sylvia Stinchfield, who survives of Rumford.
Other survivors include a son, Daniel and his companion, Cynthia Veilleux of Rumford; grandchildren, Kristen and Jamie Hutchins of Rumford; brother, Earl of Georgia; sisters, Barbara of Ohio, Jean of Florida, Lita of Ohio, Brenda of Hartford, Shirley of Livermore, Helen of Woolwich and Mae Diane of CA.
He was predeceased by siblings Donald, Vivian, Everett and Sandra.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford, with Pastor Larry Shaw officiating. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. prior to the funeral. Those who desire may contribute to the Oncology Dept at the Rumford Hospital, 420 Franklin St., Rumford, ME 04276 in his memory.
