CANTON -– Harold “Okie” Jones, 74, died on August 11, 2012, peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on the Jewett Hill Road, Canton.

He was born in Rumford on May 27, 1938, a son of Samuel Harris Jones and V. Marguerite Russ. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford.

He served in the U.S. Navy. Okie worked at the Bath Ship Yard as an electrician for many years. He was a member of the ACLJ and the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews.

He was married in Canton in 2001 to Gloria Libby, who survives of Canton.

Other survivers include stepsons, Jeffrey Kilbreth and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque, NM, and Scott Kilbreth and wife, Jackie of Canton; step-grandchildren, Katie and Joseph Kilbreth and companion Caitlin O’Connell, and Libby Irish and husband, Jason; step-great grandchild, Jacob Irish; sisters, Helen Maley of Mexico and Nora Babb of Plantersville, MS; brothers, Walter of Rumford and Herman Jones of Sierra Vista, AZ; and sister-in-law, Alice Jones of Rhode Island.
