Susan Barbour Knight
DIXFIELD -- Susan Barbour Knight, 65, died on January 21, 2013 at her residence in Dixfield.
She was born in Rumford on June 22, 1947, the daughter of H. “Al” and Carolyn (Mickus) Barbour. She graduated from Dixfield High School Class of 1965 and had attended Plus Gray Business School in Portland.
For many years, she worked at the Rumford Paper Mill. In recent years, she worked at Hannaford’s and at the Rumford Hospital as a medical transcriptionist, and recently as a cashier for Black Mountain Ski Resort in Rumford. She also was in partnership with her husband in the Mountain Pool Service for many years.
Sue was the secretary for the Lithuanian Heritage Club and served as a volunteer for the Ludden Public Library in Dixfield. She loved spending time with her son and grandson.
Sue was married in Dixfield on May 23, 1970 to Jeffrey K. Knight, who survives of Dixfield. Other survivors include her son, Christopher Knight, grandson, Landon Knight, and half-sister, Kirsten Barbour, all of Dixfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Jon.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford, with Rev. John Gensel officiating. Interment in the spring will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield. Friends are invited to call after 10 a.m. Friday prior to the funeral.
